The Hardest Part Of Sharing The Bible?
What’s the most difficult bit of sharing the Bible with the people in our lives?
For sure, answers to that will differ from person to person. But from the many hundreds of training events in churches, conferences and mission organisations large and small that MakeKnown has carried out over the years, one question stands out: How do you actually invite someone?
Nine times out of ten, there will be questions on this in any group we meet. Many want pointers on what to say. Some want a full script.
Whoever we’re speaking to, we know that this first approach, the moment we open our mouth or press send on that message, can be a real barrier, even a point of fear.
How Look Can Help
It's one of the main things we're trying to address as we build Look, a digital first step for those curious about the Bible that invites them to read one story about Jesus.
In the Gospels, we see Jesus meet people struggling with bereavement, evil, adultery, forgiveness, and much more. We hear Him speaking, often one-to-one, with people who are just getting to grips with who He is and what He came to do.
We see Jesus speak into issues of ordinary life and show how He changes everything. Where better to start for anyone exploring Christianity?
We’re praying that this approach will connect with people who are spiritually interested but aren’t ready to commit to something like The Word One to One.
But Look is also all about making that first invitation easier for the Christian. To help us all get into the habit of naturally sharing the Bible, to build our confidence that Jesus has answers to the big questions we face—not just in this life, but for eternity.
How Look Will Work
Look is not being built as an app to download.
It will be shareable through link, or a QR code, not downloaded. It’s designed to be something you can scan or send in a few seconds. No sign up. No personal data shared. We’ll even help suggest words of invitation if you want it.
We’re currently raising support for Look. If you’d like to give, please contribute by clicking below:
