Why Change?

One of the reasons we've built MakeKnown is so that we can develop new resources, new products. But you might ask: Why would we want to do that? Why not focus on one thing and do it really well? It's a fair question.

After all, for nearly twenty years we've seen God do remarkable things through one simple activity: opening the Bible with another person and reading it together. We've seen friendships deepen. We've seen curiosity grow. We've seen people come to living, saving faith as they meet Jesus through John's Gospel. We've seen Christians discover confidence they didn't know they had.

If that works, why build anything else? There’s more than one answer to that, but the most important one is this:

Not everyone starts in the same place.

Some people are curious about Jesus but wouldn't accept an invitation to read the Bible with someone. The conversation feels too big and the commitment feels too deep. The Bible feels unfamiliar, but the questions are already there.

Others are ready for conversation. They have someone they trust. They want to explore who Jesus is. They're willing to open the Bible and see what it says.

And then there’s us as Christians.

Many churches are filled with people who genuinely care about friends, neighbours and colleagues but aren't always sure how to begin sharing the hope they have. Churches long to see more people encounter Jesus, but sometimes struggle to turn that desire into a culture where sharing the Bible feels natural and normal.

Different people and different starting points but, at its heart, one journey.

This is about a journey into faith that often begins with curiosity, deepens through relationship and grows through communities that make those conversations normal.

That's why we're building Look.

Look is a first step. A place where people can begin exploring Jesus for themselves. A place where curiosity can become something deeper.

That's why The Word One to One exists.

The Word One to One creates a way for people to sit together around the Bible and discover what God has already said. With simple notes to guide the conversation, there is space for honest questions and real conversations about the Jesus who steps off the pages of the Bible.

And that's why we're building the Starter Kit.

The point of the Starter Kit is to help churches build a culture where opening the Bible with others becomes part of everyday life. A culture where more people feel confident taking simple steps, trusting God to speak.

Three products. One purpose.

Because while people may begin in different places, we're praying for the same destination: a life-changing encounter with Jesus.
